ATheatricalSongBird's News

Posted by ATheatricalSongBird - September 27th, 2012

Time to make a post!
Have been feeling a little burnt out recently, as university is becoming incredibly demanding, and I've been even more evasive than usual when it comes to fulfilling these responsibilities! I'm going to have to knuckle-down and prioritise these assessments, so that I can continue to have time for voice acting!
Now, on with the news!

Oddball Omnibus (Ch 1-3) is finally released on Newgrounds, and it needs your help! Give it five stars and a lovely review, and let's see to it that this amazing animation gets a Daily First Place! I voice Clepsy, one of the time keepers, and other members of the voice cast include hnilmik, Omahdon, Twisted4000, and many more!

A couple of weeks ago, Hikarian's "The Door" was entered into the NMAE tournament, and it got her into the next round! I voice both female roles, alongside the incredible Kirbopher! Hikarian's currently working on her next video, which will be Film-Noir inspired. Be sure to favourite her, and keep a-top of the latest updates!

This made me laugh.. A lot.

Which reminds me! Some pony-related projects are sure to be released soon! Am incredibly excited!
Keep watching jjkmovies on Youtube so you don't miss one of his longest pony reenactments yet!

Hello again, fellow Newgrounders!
I know I probably say it in every newspost... But there are some exciting projects on the horizon!

Let's start off by talking about Freedom Planet, that amazing-high-platformer-sonic-inspired game! To cut to the chase, the game's first demo for PC users (+ Macs, if you have a windows emulator) has been released TODAY! Just a reminder, the game features some Newgrounders as part of the voice acting crowd, such as myself, Omahdon, and sonicmega! You can check out the website and download it here, and be sure to visit the facebook page and let us all know what you thought of it!

Now, it's time to talk about the PONIES (I'll try and be brief)! I was over the moon yesterday when I found out that Australia is having it's FIRST MLP CONVENTION! Thankfully, I live just 45minutes away from the convention's location (Sydney), and it looks like it's going to be an awesome day (Yes, only one day, shamefully!)! To all those fellow Aussies who haven't heard about it yet, check out PonyCon Au's FB page and be sure to be there April next year!
A slight lead-in, a couple of weeks ago I collaborated with the amazing MegaTouhou (Piano, Mixer, & Lyrics) and Gap9877 (Guitar) on YouTube, and was given the awesome (and very daunting!) experience of singing his original fan mlp song, 'Trixie's Ballad.' I've always loved singing, but never, ever thought there would be a singing clip of me up on youtube. We were all really honoured to have been featured on Equestria Daily! We've got a couple more songs up our sleeves, and are all very excited to produce some more work! Check out 'Trixie's Ballad' below!

One more thing! Phagard: New Age of Warfare shamefully didn't meet it's goal on kickstarter, so as of today the aspiring medieval cartoon series and graphic novel is on indiegogo hoping to raise the funds. I voice Princess Azalea and Naomi, and am keeping my fingers and toes crossed that it makes it's goal! Check it out here, and if it captures your interest, I know me and the team would appreciate it if you shared the page!

*Sigh* I'm such a rambler!
I've been back at university for the past two weeks, and have found it difficult trying to balance my voice acting projects, work, and assessments. But I know with a little time, I should be able to get back into my rhythm!
If anyone needs a voice for their project, please email me at Aimee.SmithVA@gmail.com with a short character bio, voice type, some sample lines, and a deadline, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible! Thanks guys! Xx

There are some projects that I'm voicing for that would LOVE some additional support!

Freedom Planet is a sonic-inspired 2D game featuring an Original Sound Track and a Voice Cast of 10 (Including Sonicmega, Omahdon, and more!). The page has received 150 likes in a week, and if it reaches 1000 by July 26th, it will feature a second playable character! The demo is set to release on August 6th and will be available to PC users. I voice Milla the Hound [The cute, reserved, 8 year old who loves shiny things!] who appears at times throughout story mode. The game has been well received so far by the indie game community, but that little bit more support would be AH-MAZING!

Some of the voice work in Freedom Planet:

FantasiQuest is side-scrolling fighting game for the PC, and Invocation of Awesome is looking at HOPEFULLY launching a Kickstarter in September *Fingers crossed.* I can't say too much about it shamefully, but I'm really excited! I voice Samantha Seren, and I get to embrace my Australian accent in this role (Which was unplanned!). Check it out, and keep a-top of the updates!

I won't ramble on for too much longer, but those are the two main projects I wanted to discuss due to some exciting developments taking shape! Would be amazing if any of you decided to support the process!
Anywho, some interesting projects should be popping up on NGs in the coming weeks and months, so I'm sure I'll post about them next time. Hope I haven't bored anyone!
Til next time!

So, the last 48hrs has spun me out.
I voiced Fluttershy [Hagridshy] in this Harry Potter meets MLP parody, and only found out that this video was released last night [The irony being that I was dressed up as Pinkie Pie at Supanova yesterday!], and it was so endearing to read almost all the positive comments from several hours before. Today, I was informed by a friend that it was featured on Equestria Daily which BLEW.MY.MIND! And has received just over 19,000 hits on YouTube. jjkmovies, in which a fan page can be found
here , has done an incredible job. I'm so humbled to have been a part of his work. For those who haven't seen the video, please check it out on Equestria Daily, which can be found here . Thank you!

Hello there, fellow Newgrounders!

So this is my first news post, and I feel like it's some sort of rite-of-passage to becoming a true member of Newgrounds! I'm going to do a little 'about me' thing in this first post, and I'll try to keep it short and sweet. I started voice acting in October, so I guess you could say I'm a bit of a newbie. However in this short time, I've gathered so much experience and have truly had a ball experimenting with my voice. I've always loved singing, I began a courtship with drama in year 6, and have loved musical theatre every since. Voice acting was something I started late last year as a means to hopefully advance my own skills as a performer. Yet curiously enough, voice acting has gone from being a sidekick to the solo fighter. Anywho. Short and sweet: I really love it, and I find that I'm so dedicated to this that my uni work goes out the window! Second year, primary education student. A pass is all that's needed, right?

THIS WAS MY MAIN POINT: Uni break is right round the corner, and although I'm in the midst of doing a couple of projects now, I would really love to expand the amount of works I'm doing. So if you're an animator and would like to see some of my voicing work, please listen to my demo reel which can be found in the web links to the left of my page, or my voice acting playlist under the channel name ATheatricalSongBird [am hoping to have iMovie soon so I can start posting my own videos]. If you like what you hear, please shoot me a message and I'm sure I'd be more than happy to lend my voice. THANK YOU.

Ha. Short and sweet, right? XD
