ATheatricalSongBird's News

Posted by ATheatricalSongBird - November 14th, 2013

I should adopt a mantra when it comes to making these posts...
"Keep it short, keep it sweet, keep it simple"
... But they're just like New Year's Resolutions and hardly stand a chance at following through!

The Updates for Last Month
Galaxy Police Squad 4 came out a few weeks ago- which I voiced a couple of characters in. Miss Kel-Chan is one talented bunny... One talented bunny with super powers. She's been pumping out these quality filled videos one after the other, as she also released The Shinobi Noir Trailer today which earned her a daily 3rd. She only had three weeks to make this one, as it was submitted for the Machinima Festival! Give it a watch- I was so impressed with how well it turned out in such a short amount of time... Kudos to all involved!

I also offered my voice services to A Girl in A Room Collab and Evil-Dog's Freak O'Lantern Game over the Halloween holiday! Although Halloween is over, it's still not too late to check them out! :)

A couple of weeks ago I spontaneously decided to try my hand at commercial voice acting! I'd never attempted it before and figured I'd write a short script as inspired by the Voice Acting Alliance.. Am really happy with how it turned out- A HUGE thanks to Budj (Has there been a single post where I've not addressed you yet?! Haha!) for mixing the audio for me... Because I'm hopeless with things like that. You can check out the finished product here: The VAA Commercial.

Bulletin Board for Voice Actors Looking for Castings
A spontaneous idea I had today (Hence so few items being listed): At the bottom of every news post I may have a bulletin board that lists some of the awesome audition opportunities I've seen around the web. I do this quite a bit on my Facebook Page where I post some of the threads I stumble upon, but it might be handy to assemble them all in one place (And these auditions and projects would have all been looked into... As I wouldn't recommend an audition that I myself would not feel comfortable in applying for). Let me know what you think about this in the comments below! If you like it, I'll be sure to expand the list next time :)

* Ragville (Animated Series) Auditions (Males & Females Needed): From NGs very own EvilInkMachine! You can check out the Ragville teaser on her NGs page too! I actually submitted a couple of auditions earlier today (Giving a voice to these quirky characters was too tempting to resist!) and I recommend that other voice actors give it a shot. There are 11 characters up for grabs, but you've only got less than 2 days to get your auditions in... So hurry!

* Peppy Pals (iOS/Android/PC Game) Auditions (Males & Females Needed): Shamefully, you also only have under 2 days to submit your auditions for a cute cat, dog, horse, owl or rabbit in this gorgeous looking game. This project is just looking for reaction sounds though so the game can be sold internationally without having a language barrier. Check out the link and watch the video; You won't regret it!

That's it for now, folks! I hope you've enjoyed the updates and be sure to let me know if you'd like me to work on the bulletin board!
Thanks, guys! xx

My alliteration sucks.

Now, let's get smack-bang into this voice acting business!

Newgrounds News
If you're not one of the 174,524 views of the Legend of Link video here on NGs, as created by mister James Beavers; you should change that now. That Wind Waker scene alone is worth watching it for... I laughed pretty hard at that. Props to Tomsthevoice!

Next up we have The Crystal Story II intro- a sneak peak into the upcoming game sequel! Now, I cannot express how excited I was to get cast as both Lina & Rita in this! I'd played the first Crystal Story game almost a year ago here on NGs (got severely addicted) and never thought I would be voicing in the next game! The first game has over 700,000 plays (I'm likely to be a few of those thousands...) and the second game is shaping up to look even more amazing (No bias intended!)! Also, if you'd like to be a tester for the game, check out Lan14n's post HERE!
SO KEEP YO EYES PEELED IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS! XD

Long loooong in the making, The 1st episode of A Buncha Guys has finally been released! I voiced the opening narration, the two chicks in the library and introduced Fargonz in a sing-songy tone! Honestly, this was an awesome pilot episode, it deserves far more recognition. I was really taken-aback by how amazingly well everything came together... Couldn't find a flaw! I really loved it, had me in giggles during the Fargonz scene...! Am very excited to see what episode 2 brings!

Last minute quick note: You may hear a familiar voice pop up now and again in Evil-Dog's upcoming Halloween game! ;)

In Other News
I'm going to be making a couple of small voice appearances in the game Nosebound: A film noir adventure game for the PC! The game could use your help though- it's currently still hovering around on Steam Greenlight and could really use your upvote! Here's the link to it's Steam Page! Below you'll find a short trailer of the game...Enjoy!

Also, in some other very special news: I'll be voicing for another game on Steam Greenlight called Unhack. InvertMouse (The developer of the game) is a fellow Australian (Same state, even!) and asked if I would voice in another upcoming game of his: Bermuda. Turns out, this game's demo will be featured at the Indie Game Show and Tell Panel during the EB Games Expo in Sydney! 5th of October at 9:30am in the Lovesac Lounge (Cuuuuute!). Marcus asked if I'd come and watch the panel and queried if I'd be interested in signing some postcards afterwards that would be handed out, which of course I was keen for! XD Should be an awesome day... Am pretty keen to play some board games, too! So if there's any Sydney-goers out there, come along and say hi!

Last thing! A big thank you to my 250+ fans here on NGs, my 160+ fans on YT, and my... 26 followers on facebook *Blush* XD If you haven't already, be sure to follow my FACEBOOK PAGE as that's where I post EVERYTHINGGGG voice acting related (About ME, about auditions for YOU, about STUFF). I'm really quite the facebook nut, so expect instant and relevant info there!

Thanks, all!

Updates are hard.
Can't even remember the exact order of these updates, but will try my best!

High-Seas Honey
I got cast as Brielle in MissColleenJay's (here on NGs) semi-animated series, 'High-Seas Honey!' Other cast members include fellow aussies Budj (Gigi animator- Superlab member!) and the very talented and mysterious, Omahdon (Voice of EVERYTHING). You can check out the decision casting video which has all of our voices here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u87oh5C4nvw
Gonna be a good one, folks! Be sure to check it out on Youtube when all is said and done!

Princess Battles by Nekomura Games
I voice Rosalind (well, her expressions anyway!) in this Visual Novel romantic adventure! Follow Lillian as she embarks on an adventure to maintain her place on the throne by participating in sim-themed card battles! Earn cute outfits and defeat your rival- Windows PC version available for $20! Feel free to check it out in more detail on their website!

Newsponies
I believe I'd mentioned this a while back, but I got cast as West Wing in Newsponies (created by the same guys that made the Vinyl Scratch Tapes- TheMidnightMagicPro!). Obviously I wasn't there, but I heard the Newsponies crew rocked their panel at Bronycon, and one of the shorts I'd voiced in was shown to the crowd!
Check it out, yo!

Yeah. Stuff got heated. Expect great things- such well developed characters, great voice work, and an amazing script! Things gon' goooood!

Blood High, Ep 1
Is just the way it sounds. A high school of maniacal fighters. I voice the protagonist, Garnet. She's crazy cool. But crazy, none the less! Was only released in the last 24hrs, give it some love :)

Office Awesomeness, Ep 1
Whoops. Wrong order, as this was released almost a month ago! ...Meh.
This shit's crazy... But I like it :) Something tells me I'll be working with this animator for a while- expect a line up of works to come! If you haven't seen this quirky, reference-filled piece just yet, I recommend you check it out on NGs here: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/622564 Hope you like Navi! ;)

Oh, and cause I said I would... Here is the death of Budj.

And just a reminder, folks! I now have a FACEBOOK PAGE! Consider it the go-to for a summary of my released voice works, as well as a distributor of acting opportunities I've stumbled across for you fellow voice talents!

... I remember why I delay making these things now. This took me over an hour... Haha!
*** As always, if you need a voice, feel free to contact me here- but please outline what the project is, the character type, the deadline, the samples lines, and all those other goodies! I can't guarantee always being able to say yes (quite frankly, it depends on the week given the hecticness of university), but even if I say no I will always provide alternative options for you! So don't be afraid to drop me a line! :)
Thanks for sticking with me, guys!

Okay- so being excited over having 200 followers will be laughed at by the majority of people on this site..
But it means so much to know that every single person on my youtube and newgrounds is an unbiased supporter of my voice work. I haven'e t asked for my friends and family to like these pages, infact, the majority of the people in my life have only heard my voice in a select few works this past year. Most will undoubtedly have never heard of Newgrounds... It's quite the contradictory thing: I voice act in games and flash movies that circulate around the internet, yet I like to (for the most part) keep this hobby of mine fairly underwraps. I wonder if any of my fellow voice actorians are similarly minded, or can at least articulate my way of thinking a little clearer?
But regardless, upon hitting this milestone, I've decided to branch out more!

So officially- thank you all so much for the support! Can't say I imagined having some of the awesome opportunities I've been blessed with when I'd first started this last year. As a thankyou/extension of this milestone, I've made a facebook page that will contain the latest developments with projects I voice in (Acting and singing), forwarded auditions for those interested in voice acting (Opportunities for both males and females), and plugs to some amazing animators/voice actors I know! And of course, feel free to contact me through this facebook page should you need a voice, or just want to chat!
Here goes nothing!

Thank you again- And I hope to hear more from you all!

I miss voice acting.

I'm sorry to those who have been waiting for some lines from me- For the last three weeks I've been teaching full time as per my univeristy degree's requirements. I just have one more week to go, and one exam, and then I'm good to continue working on these scripts, and audition for the 20 things I've seen but haven't had time to try out for! Thank you for your patience :)

Okay, let's summarise this month!
The Primal Champions Trailer has been released (As created by Redharvest here on NGs!)! I am the narrator for the trailer, as well as the Batheel & Mountain Spirit in the completed product, which will be released on newgrounds here in due time! Check out the trailer:

More toward the end of May: Goombario's Story is on NGs, and had received a daily feature! A collaboration work by The Superlab! Be sure to check out more of the group's works, including Gigi, A Keaton's Tale, and War of the Shyguys, and be sure to Like the group of Facebook to Keep atop of the Latest News! Some exciting projects are coming this way from the Superlab, such as PKMN World of Chaos, Ricardo's Quest & Whorzies...!

I'm still producing those 20 second audio acapella shorts here occasionally- has been my small outlet these last few weeks! Am hoping to produce something in it's entirety when teaching is finished, or maybe even something MLP related with Project 4@4! If you haven't already, feel free to Check out my singing Tale as Old as Time here on NGs! I also stumbled across an original MLP song I sung for MegaTouHou almost ONE YEAR AGO! The time has really flown.. Trixie's Ballad- will always have a soft spot for this song.

And now for something I am INSANELY excited about! I can finally announce that I voice ALL of the female characters (Nagging wife, NPC Peasants & the Lyrical Bard) In Folk Tale, an incredible game available for Early Access on Steam for $19.99! This price covers Early Access (a few hours long tutorial), first-basis information about the latest developments, and the full game upon completion. Type Folk Tale into Youtube, and you can already see a bunch of Let's Plays popping up- Is truly a stunning game! For those that are interested, I found a cutscene containing Bernard & his Nagging Wife (Skip to 11:05!)!

Two more general news things: Am going to Supanova on the 22nd of June here in Sydney! I went last year and had a really incredible time.. Was devastated that I never got to meet Vic Mignogna though! But I have just found out (with absolute delight!) that Cristina Vee will be coming to the land down under (Voice of Cerebella in Skullgirls, Alisa in Tekken, and Brony!)! Pretty spectacular, would love to meet her!
The second thing is, I was wondering what people thought about my making a facebook page for my voice work when I reach 200 fans here on Newgrounds (5 fans away). Is it narcisistic? Is it too soon? Would it be convenient for anyone? I've tossed around the idea a lot in the last few months- but just wanted some additional opinions! I'm quite the infrequent poster here, and am rarely on skype- but I would post a lot on facebook! You have been warned... Let me know what you all think!

Thanks for reading, can't wait to get back into voice acting! Hope you've all been well, and I look forward to hearing what you think!!

Let's see if I remember everything!

Number one: I attended PonyConAU on the 5th of April, and had an absolutely AWESOME time! For those that don't know- it was Australia's first MLP convention, so you can imagine how excited I was! I attended the musician and artist panel, and got to watch the very talented EvDog & Feather perform a few of their songs! Here is a snippet of Evdog's performance (Shitty quality though, I'm sorry!), he's oh-so talented:

I also can't talk too much about it (It'd be waaaay too early!)- but as a result of this con It looks like I'll be involved in a lot more MLP related projects (for both singing and voice acting), which is really exciting, as I took a bit of a break. There are some people within the fandom that I can't wait to work with though! Keep you posted!

Number two: Gigi's PSA is on NGs and Youtube! The next project from Superlab Media! As animated, written and voiced by Budj, my fellow Australian friend. And I make another appearance as Gigi- Woot! The flash is actually for Budge's Youtube channel, highlighting some of the upcoming projects from me, and the rest of the superlab crew! We actually all have a lot of fun, so make sure you watch the products of our fun-ness! :)

Number three: Kaigan, Episode 1 is released on Newgrounds as of yesterday! This has been long in the making, but was certainly worth the wait! Kyle Hebert does the opening narration- such a slick voice- and I voiced for Hitomi (brown haired girl). Will be voicing a few more characters as the series progresses too! Has had some lovely reviews so far, so be sure to check it out!

Aaaannnndddd lastly- Number four: It's not much, but I released An audio track here on NGs containing a 20 second sample of my singing! Was completely spontaneous, but have received a really lovely response! I'm going to be focusing some more of my effort into singing projects, as I've really started to miss it. If anyone's interested, some of my singing works can be found here: Yes, they are all MLP -Originals & Covers!

Thanking everyone for following me, I hope you've enjoyed my work so far!

Let's see how I go with pumping these out on a monthly basis!

Has been quite the awesome month in terms of released projects for me here! Am still voicing for Ross Bollinger's (Captainmcross) pencilmations, which I'm absolutely loving! Be sure to check out Pencilmation #32 (Bubblegum Grump) where I voice bubblegum-blowing pinkie (That's pencil-pinkie, not pinkie-pie this time round!). Got a daily feature and review crew pick, so It's sure to make you smile... I hope! XD

In the last 2 days, there have been two animations that I've voiced for released (I believe it turns out they'll be in the running for today's placings though? Still a little hazy with the process!). BrolyOrders is a DBZ parody, made by the oh-so talented Jamesbeavers91. I voice the crying kid (Apologies to James, having to listen to that over and over again would have driven him nuts!) and the mother in this quirky project! It's currently under judgement, so be sure to check it out and give it 5 stars! That Broly voice by Tomsthevoice is really impressive too, so be sure to check out his work!
AND NUMBER TWO: Monster Next Door is a final year animation project revolving around John and his new neighbour Harry, who is a monster. In short- don't judge a book by its cover, get to know the story inside to ward away misconceptions. Some really beautiful work in this, I personally love the segments that portray Harry in an almost nightmarish sequence. I voice the radio announcer in the beginning of the animation, hope you enjoy it!

I believe that's all I had to report! Some more work is showing up on the horizon- I believe Gigi will be making another appearance soon.. I hope everyone has been well! Feel free to shoot me a message should you have any voice acting related questions, guys!

It's been a good couple of days... Here, have a happy song!

Happy smiling!

Here's the lowdown!!

Freedom Planet's Kickstarter Campaign ended earlier today with over $25,000 pledged, and over 1,100 backers! Check out the page here to see for yourself! No time to rest yet though, This baby still needs to be Greenlit on Steam!

Here lies my personal thank you to all those that supported the game... Don't laugh at me!

So thanks again, everyone! :)

Moving on:
Have had three NGs videos released this month, and although I'm late at noting it, I've exceeded 100 fans! This is AWESOME! Great to know I must be doing something right! :) I hope everyone has checked out Pencilmation #30 and Pencilmation #31 by the very talented Ross Bollinger! Loved his videos prior to working with him, so I am thrilled to actually be a part of them! Stay tuned!

I apologise to the last few people who have sent me messages regarding my voice acting services, I've found it difficult to manage my time as of late! Please contact me in a couple of weeks if any of you still need a voice, or I would be more than happy to recommend some other actresses I know that may be able to help you out. Sorry again!

Thanks everyone, till next time!!

It's been a long time since I've posted, but something exciting happened...

FREEDOM PLANET IS NOW ON KICKSTARTER!
So.. It's been a little over an hour, and WE'RE ALMOST HALF WAY!
Okay, so I'm a little excited... XD The voice works of Freedom Planet also include Omahdon, Seymour, Kaggy, and our Lilac: Dawn Bennet! AND WE ARE ECSTATIC!

Check it out on Kickstarter by following the link in the description of the video (So many instructions!):

And as the video shows, Milla is now a playable character! WOO!

Moving on, I know I'm a couple of months late, but Gigi got released on NGs! I voice... Gigi! A massive thankyou to my fellow Aussie mate, Budj, for casting me, and being my Fable friend on Xbox.. LOL! So if you haven't already, make sure you check it out!

Along with Budge, Anjidu, Potnyx, Eastbeast, Teejay-number13, Seraphim87, Headphoamz, Gustavos, and Joeylicious, we created the epicness that is SUPERLAB PRODUCTIONS! (Here is the NGs link too: http://superlabmedia.newgrounds.com/) A group of voice actors, programmers, artists and animators that have banded together to create awesomeness... Need I say more?

More exciting news coming up soon, and I'll try to not leave it so long next time!
... SUPPORT FREEDOM PLANET!...

Happy Halloween you witches, gremlins, ghosts & zombies!
Shamefully, we've only had two groups of kids come to our door! And we went out to buy lollipops and everything.. Oh well, more for me, I suppose!

Moving on!
So i'm a couple of weeks late, but Hikarian's latest film J&J: Sweet and Sour has been released on NGs, and she did an ah-mazing job! All made in 21 days... How does one do that!? I had an awesome time voicing her last two flashes, and I certainly hope to be a part of her future projects! This project also helped me to recognise a true voice talent: SirUndead. I have every confidence this guy is going to be incredibly popular in the online acting community! Turns out I'm going to be voicing in a couple more NGs movies with him- All due in good time!

SOME AWESOME NEWS:
I was scouted a couple of months ago to audition for an app game, released on iOS devices. I was absolutely stoaked to get cast! It's all gone so quickly, but it got released the other day! Buy Galactic Phantasy Prelude in the App Store now for $0.99! I voice Tina, one of the slave camp survivors who becomes your crew member, and a ticketseller in the game! Okay, so I got a little excited..! The trailer can be seen below if you're interested:

Now, I normally do have a small segment at the bottom of my posts about the ponies.. I'm certainly not about the break tradition! Shamefully I have nothing to show as of right now, but I can say that I recently got cast in the 'On a Cross & Arrow' radio play (based on the fanfic), jjkmovies is going to release his LOTR Reenacted by Ponies in the coming weeks, and I got four callbacks for Newsponies (Hopefully castings will be released soon.. Keep your fingers and toes crossed?!). And KJOokami of NGs also had an incredible amount of callbacks! He also came 2nd in the VAC9, and I just wanted to 110% recommend this guy! Such an amazing talent- Be sure to ask him to voice for your next project!

Phew- Well I think that's certainly long enough! I just wanted to thank those who have sent me messages with lovely feedback about my voice, and offers to voice their next flash! It's been really wonderful to know I must be doing something right! Starting next week I'm going to be teaching full time for three weeks, so I'm afraid I can't take on anymore than I'm already doing. I finish teaching on the 23rd of Nov,so if you need someone then, be sure to ask! If not, you can still shoot me a message, and I can try and help you find someone who can take on your project!
Thanks again guys, and be sure to have a spooktacular halloween! :)
